THEME OF THE SEMINAR
Wheat Products Promotion Society presents 9th International seminar being held in Bengaluru on the theme of “Changing Scenario - Vision 2025”. The previous seminar title was “New Ideas & Innovation for Growth”.

Wheat is one of the cereal crops which provides major staple food requirements of people. We have a commitment to provide food and nutrition security, assist in fighting poverty and initiate to share value with the stakeholders for a sustainable development of the industry commensurate with the ever changing environment. We therefore kept the seminar theme as Ideas and Innovation for growth.

At the primary processing levels we need to improve access to affordable wheat based products, service the discerning consumer by developing healthier products for living an active life style. Other ideas and innovations are essentially required to identify areas of waste and inefficiency in the wheat supply chain, remove bottlenecks in the supply chain management, reduce food waste, develop by products, improving shelf life of products, understanding role of responsible advertising, contributing to meet food and nutrition security through social net programs of the Government, meeting laid standards of quality control and quality assurance, develop newer products to meet the health needs of the population, understanding role of hygiene and sanitation, adopting improved milling technology as per present needs, contributing towards corporate social responsibility, impact of General Sales Tax, assessing skill development requirements of the wheat chain, research in wheat as also the end products consumed by human beings, understanding safety requirements not only controlling contaminant levels in the chain but also taking care of microbiological levels etc.

Present environment poses challenges to industry stalwarts to review industry productivity and economics, entry of younger generation in the milling business, reorient business practices in consonance with global models, entry of large corporates, improving state competitiveness through a fair and transparent state policies etc.
